Vedic culture

The word "veda" means "knowledge" in Sanscrit. Russian words "vedat’" (to know), "svedeniya" (information), and even "videt’" (to see) are derived from it. It is a common knowledge that the Russian language, as well as the rest of the Indo-European languages, originate from Sanscrit, and that the ancient Slavic culture was based on the Vedas, the ancient books of knowledge.

For centuries, the Vedas have remained a mystery to the West. Only in the mid-1960s, with the emergence of an authoritative translation of the Bhagavad-Gita, the Western world rediscovered the living Vedic tradition. Meditation and vegetarianism came into fashion, the words "karma", "yoga", "mantra", and "nirvana", have become clear without translation, and next to the skyscrapers rose the domes of the Vedic temples. Sociologists started talking about a new revolution in the West - the spiritual revolution.

Thousands of years ago ancient Indian civilization possessed science and technology which principles we are only beginning to comprehend. And, most importantly, the Vedic science and technology did not impede but, in fact, contributed to the moral and spiritual development of people, making a person's life happy and harmonious.

Language

Language of a people is the mirror of its culture. This is particularly true with respect to the language of the Vedas - Sanskrit, which name translates as "exquisite, refined". The first western scholars dubbed the Sanskrit “the mother of all tongues", recognizing it as the eldest and most perfect progenitor of other languages and dialects. Concise and poetic, it seems to be created for spiritual and philosophical conversations. For millennia, Sanskrit was the medium of communication to a large part of humanity. USA NASA Experts have found an unexpected application for the ancient language. According to them, precisely Sanskrit is the ideal basis for creating artificial intelligence because of its extremely accurate grammar, word formation flexibility, and unambiguity.

Music

Charming and unique, the melodies of India originate in the ancient "Sama-Veda." Sacred manuscript describes the seven original notes (sa, re, ga, ma, pa, dha, ni) as the divine sounds that evoke the soul to a new life. Music of the Vedas is the infinite variety, strung on a thread of perfect harmony. Each of the eight times of day and six times of the year has its own melody (raga), which brings mind and body in harmony with the surrounding environment. Thus a Vedic musician becomes a doctor by healing body, mind, and soul with a subtle energy of sound.

Astronomy and astrology

Cosmos was not “terra incognita” for the people of Vedic times. While wild Normans were wandering through Europe, their contemporaries in ancient India were describing the age of the Universe, sizes and orbits of planets, the paradox of space-time. They also knew about the celestials’ effects on earthly destinies. In India still one can meet learned Brahmins, who are able at a glance to see the date and time of your birth, list the milestones of your past and future.

Medicine

Ayurveda, or the "science of a long and healthy life", teaches that health is easier to preserve than to correct. It explains that a nutricious vegetarian diet, physical and spiritual purity, kindness, and faith in God lead to good health. "While taking medication, remember the Supreme Lord" - suggests an ancient medical treatise. From kaviraj (a Vedic doctor) patient will not live to hear the usual: "What are your complaints?" Doctor's fingers take the pulse, and a moment later an accurate diagnosis of the disease and its underlying causes is given. Another minute, and the natural remedies and the diet are prescribed, and as you turn to leave his final words reach you: "Get well and never fall ill again!"

Mathematics

Einstein said: "We owe a lot to the Indians, who taught us how to count, without which no worthwhile scientific discovery could have been made". The Vedas describe the foundations of modern mathematics, from arithmetic to trigonometry and integrals. Decimal number system and even the inscription pattern of "Arab" numerals (1, 2, 3) is borrowed from the Vedas. The unique system of mental calculation allowed people to Vedic times to perform the most complex calculations in their minds. The famous Pythagorean theorem has been proved by them in five simple ways, long before the appearance of geometry.
